Weird Al Yankovic is best known for recording humorous songs that parody specific songs by contemporary musical acts.
After hearing Dr. Demento's radio show, Yankovic sent the Doctor a tape of a song entitled "Belvedere Cruisin". He was just a senior in high school at the time, but the tape was the start of his eventual career. As he career progressed, he recorded parody hits such as "Amish Paradise", "My Bologna", "Eat It", and in 2006 "White & Nerdy."
Weird Al has recorded more that 150 parody and original songs. He has earned three Grammy's amongst nine nominations and five platinum records in the US.
In addition to recording his albums, Weird Al has written and starred in his own movie and TV show, directed music videos for himself and other artists, and made guest appearances on television shows such as The Simpsons and Behind the Music.
