The Tom Green Show began in 1994 a cable program in the Ottawa region until 1996. The show was later picked up by Canada's Comedy Network in 1997 and then MTV in 1999, where he gained popularity in America. The Tom Green Show was a variety show format.

In 2003 he also had a nightly talk show The New Tom Green Show, in the style of Jay Leno, on MTV. The show lasted several months, and was much more mainstream.
