You may know Paul Reubens best for his professional character, Pee-Wee Herman. He started acting when he was 11 years old by joining the Asolo Theater and during the next six years he appeared in a variety of plays.
In the 1970s, he performed at local comedy clubs and made four guest appearances on The Gong Show. He soon joined the Los Angeles-based improvisational comedy team The Groundlings and remained a member for six years.
In addition to the Pee-Wee character, Paul has also played a number of other characters, notably appearing on the television show, Murphy Brown. Then in 1981, The Pee-Wee Herman Show was born on HBO. He has also appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
