Michael Richards is best known for his role as Kramer on Seinfeld, however he had already established a solid career as a comic actor before landing the role in 1989.
After graduating college, Richards began performing in comedy clubs. He had worked the stand-up circuit for less than a year when he was asked by ABC to appear in their new sketch series Fridays.
Richards remained obscure until fellow Fridays castmate Larry David offered him a part in The Seinfeld Chronicles, a show he had recently developed with comedian Jerry Seinfeld. It took Richards awhile to develop his alter ego, but once he did the results were dazzling, earning Richards a trio of Emmys for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
