Biography
Tim Nichols is a native of Phoenix, Arizona where he attended Desert Winds elementary school. A field trip with his fifth grade class changed his life forever. NIchols and his fellow students were extras in the major motion picture, "American Anthem," starring U.S. Olympic gold medalist Mitch Gaylord. In Mr. Gaylord, Nichols found his muse and his life's ambition. He knew he had to be a gymnast. Unfortunately a terrible accident involving a pommel horse ended that dream. He asked himself, "What would Mitch do?" Unwilling to dedicate himself to months and months of painful rehabilitation, Nichols decided instead to pursue acting.
In 1998, Nichols began studying comedy at the Star Theater in Scottsdale, Arizona. He performed with the improv comedy troupe, the OxyMoron'Z and acted in various local, regional and national commercials. In 2001, he helped found Theater 168 and the Jester'Z improv comedy troupe. The summer of 2002 took him to Chicago to study at the Improv Olympic and Second City. Upon his return to Arizona, Nichols met Sam Greene, a writer and filmmaker producing an independent movie. Greene cast Nichols in the movie and the two became friends. In 2004, Greene cast Nichols in his new project, "American Body Shop," an independent television pilot which COMEDY CENTRAL bought and developed into a series. When the dust cleared, fate intervened and again Nichols was cast. He made the move to Los Angeles in the summer of 2006 to continue his writing and acting career. "American Body Shop" has now become a series and Nichols could not be happier unless, of course, he were a gymnast.
