Rudy Moreno's official comedy start was when another Rudy, Rudy Salas of the rhythm and blues group, Tierra, convinced Moreno to open their concert back in April, 1991. It was enough for Rudy. He was smitten by the applause and admiration for making people laugh.
He then met funny guy Gilbert Esquivel who introduced Rudy to the L.A. club circuit, and Rudy took off. He would begin booking shows and bring L.A. audiences to their feet. Then he was asked to open for vocal groups as Los Lobos, the Temptations, Lynyrd Skynrd, War, Ice Cube and recently for the legendary Smokey Robinson.
Television was next to recognize Moreno's talents. He has made more than 20 appearances on TV for shows such as "L.A. Doctors," "Pacific Blue" and "Funny is Funny." He also appeared twice in Showtime's Latino Laugh Festival as both a standup comedy act and as the character Buford Gomez, the redneck Latino border guard; a solo comedy act written by acclaimed comedian/actor Rick Najera.
