Paul Scheer is a current cast member on VH1's Best Week Ever. His films include School for Scoundrels with Billy Bob Thornton, the upcoming Sean William Scott comedy Trainwreck, Watching the Detectives with Cillian Murphy, and the SXSW Comedy Award Winner Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story. In late 2006 he will appear with Jeff Goldblum in the Frank Darbont-directed NBC drama Raines.
In 1995, Scheer became a member of New York City's longest running Off-Broadway comedy show, Chicago City Limits. In 1998 Paul joined the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City where he performed Sketch and Improvisation with Respecto Montalban, who won an ECNY Award for "Best Improv Show" and were called "Funny and incredibly talented" by Fox's Good Day New York. Respecto finished their New York tenure with a six-month sold-out run of a political satire stage show directed by Adam McKay (director/writer of Anchorman). During that time, Scheer also created/starred in "Automatic Vaudeville" at the Ars Nova Theater, which the Hollywood Reporter called "one of the top five shows in the country."
Scheer recently wrote a sitcom with HBO, and created and produced a show for TBS with Whoopi Goldberg called Sketch Off. His other writing credits include Comedy Central's Crossballs, The WB's Make My Day, CNBC's McEnroe Show, and TBS's Impostor and Movie Junky. He has also appeared on The Today Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and Weekends at the D.L.
He has written pieces for Men's Health, Village Voice, Rad Bad, People Magazine, and the New York Daily News. He can often be heard on NYC's Free FM (92.3FM) with Jake Fogelnest and Jackie Clarke.
In 2006 Variety named Scheer one of the "Top 10 Comics to Watch" and The Village Voice hailed Paul as a comedian "soon to be a household name".
Paul is also currently creating, producing and starring in a new project for MTV with his short film group Human Giant.
