Emmy nominated producer, Marta Ravin has been working in the entertainment business for 15 years both behind and in front of the camera. Her unique background and diverse skill set have shaped her into a strong leader and producer, specializing in comedic television both in the studio and field.
Marta is currently the producer of MTV's "Sunblock" hosted by Adrienne Bailon. The "Sunblock" consists of short interstitial segments that air in the afternoons on MTV and mtv.com. These wraps feature Adrienne taking the viewer to some of her favorite summer spots in NYC. The "Sunblock" wraps are a mix of original content as well as sponsored Integrated Marketing segments.
Before the "Sunblock," Marta was the producer of MTV's flag ship show, "Total Request Live." In this position Marta not only oversaw the show's daily operations and creative but she also produced many big stunt weeks and specials for MTV, including "Spankin' New Music Week," "The MTV Beach House," "The TRL Awards" and numerous movie specials. Highlights include flying Beyonce into Times Square on a helicopter, parasailing Chris Brown onto the San Diego beach, creating a CGI theater for Shia LaBeouf to make out with a tennis ball, shutting down Times Square so Tom Cruise could ride down Broadway on a fire truck and traveling to Egypt to produce the "Jumper Movie Special" at the Sphinx. In November of 2008, Marta produced "Total Finale Live," a live, three-hour event celebrating ten years of TRL with celebrity appearances, performances and vintage clips.
Although Marta is known for her production savvy, she started out on the other side of the camera. Marta began her career as a stand up comic. After working the circuit for several years she appeared on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend," NBC's "Late Friday" and was soon tapped to host VH1's "Rock of Ages." In those early days of her career, Marta also served as a freelance writer for VH1, Comedy Central, Lifetime, and MTV where she created a pilot based on her life called "Networking."
In the late 90's Marta was part of the launch of the Oxygen network as an on air personality and writer on their daily, live talk show, "Pure Oxygen," where she had a recurring segment, "Marta and Her Men." It was during her time at Oxygen when Marta segued from in front of the camera to behind the scenes when she became the Show Producer of "Pure Oxygen" honing her craft in both the studio and the field.
After Oxygen, Marta returned to VH1 where she wrote and produced a pop culture pilot and co-produced the countdown show, "25 Greatest Rock Star Cameos." While at VH1, Marta was approached by executives at MTV to join the "Total Request Live," team. Although most of her time at MTV has been devoted to TRL, Marta has also had the opportunity to work on other projects at the network. To help spearhead MTV's digital initiative, Marta created and executive produced a pilot called "Heard 'Em Say" for mtv.com. In the fall of 07 she was proud to be one of the producers who brought the Broadway musical, "Legally Blonde" to the MTV audience with a groundbreaking, Emmy nominated special.
Marta's most recent accomplishment is becoming a published author. She is one of the contributors on "Afterbirth," (St. Martin's Press) a collection of stories about parenting that came out in May of 2009.
