For over 15 years, Luke Torres has been peforming comedy across this great country of ours. Making new friends and learning something new about people in each and every city. Making people laugh is what Luke was born to do, but believe it or not, he didn't just stumble into his career.
Luke grew up in a small town in Texas. The sixth child out of seven kids. Mom stayed at home and Dad was a Doctor. When it was time for Luke to go to college he went to Angelo State University for pre med and to play college football. It didn't take long before he realized that he wasn't cut out for either. After one year he dropped athletics and switched his major to theater arts. It wasn't long before he was making audiences crack up in all of his college performances. His buds convinced him to try Stand Up Comedy so he headed to Fort Worth and became a regular at the Funny Bone in Arlington, Tx. He then returned to College at Texas Tech University to continue to work on his theater arts degree. Realizing that Lubbock, Texas was not the place to make it in comedy, he headed west to Los Angeles.
Talk about culture shock. Coming from a town of only 3,000 and moving to Los Angeles with 14 million and growing. He landed a paid spot as a regular at the world famous Comedy Store and was quicky picked up by the crew at Fox's " In Living Color," working along side such greats as Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans and Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx. He then landed a deal with CBS and Quincy Jones Entertainment to star in his own television sitcom. He worked on perfecting his craft as a comedian, impressionist and muscian in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Reno, Laughlin and Lake Tahoe. Working as an opening act for other comedians such as Dennis Miller, Howie Mandel, George Carlin, Louie Anderson and Dana Carvey just to name a few. He also worked with many musical acts such a The Temptations, The Four Tops, Three Dog Night, War and Paul Anka. His impressions and musical parodies were heard across the country on Premiere Radios Comedy Network were he worked as a freelance writer and performer. He has also had numerous television appearances performing his stand up on networks such as CBS, NBC, FOX, COMEDY CENTRAL, HBO, SHOWTIME, GALAVISION, TELEMUNDO AND SITV. He has also appeared in many motion pictures including the animated hit " Space Jam," starring Michael Jordan and produced by Warner Brothers. Most recently he starred in a Televion Pilot entitled " X and J Customs," produced by the co creators of " The Martin Lawrence Show," and " The Jamie Foxx Show."
Currently Luke is traveling the country once again Headling in Casinos, Theaters, Comedy Clubs, Colleges and Corporate Venues. His act consisting of traditional Stand Up Comedy, impressions, characters, dialects and muscial parodies has made him a favorite draw for all. He is truly one of today's top cross over talents. Most recently he was the Headlinig Comedian on Paul Rodriguez's " Latin Kings of Comedy." He is also featured in several DVD'S such as " Latinos Locos," "Latino Fiesta Vol. 2," and " National Lampoon's Int. Show."
