Chevy Chase joined the Saturday Night Live (SNL) crew, and embarked on a highly successful movie career.
Chase began his career by writing comedy material for an off-Broadway revue which later became the basis of his film debut, "The Groove Tube". Chase was the first member of the original SNL (1975) cast to leave the show, after only one season, a decision he later regretted.
Chase scored in the eighties with movie hits such as Caddyshack, National Lampoon's Vacation, Spies Like Us, Three Amigos and Fletch. His films show his talent for deadpan comedy. At the peak of his career, in 1987 and 1988, Chase continued his hot streak by hosting the prestigious Academy Awards.
Unfortunately in the 90's, Chase's career began to seriously flounder from his eighties foothold. This shift in fame culminated in the now legendarily short-lived 1993 talk show, "The Chevy Chase Show".
